GOLD AND SILVER
OLD wisdom tells us we can light a thousand candles from one candle, and that first candle will lose none of its radiance.
The poet Alexander Pope had a similar philosophy regarding friends.
“My friendships are increased by new ones,” he wrote, “yet no part of the warmth I felt for the old is diminished!”
Here’s to friends, new and old.
Some wise but anonymous person (also) wrote the following lines:
Make new friends but keep the old.
One is silver,
The other gold.
